Dynamic Invention Reviewed in Art New England

September 1, 2013

Nancy Manter, Every Night, 2012, archival inkjet, 9.75 x 12.75 in.

AAA Print Portfolio exhibition receives enthusiastic review from Bonnie Barrett Stretch in Art New England.

Over the past two years, works have filled nine exhibitions across the United States as well as in Otranto, Italy, Paris, and Berlin. The latest of these presents a groundbreaking print portfolio featuring work by 48 leading artists. It is on view through October 20 at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center in Vermont, the first stop on a nationwide tour organized by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Proving that AAA is still a nervy bunch, the exhibition, three years in the making, showcases the organization’s first digitally produced portfolio, striking a new aesthetic level for digital printmaking technology and serving an encyclopedic range of vivid abstract imagery, while also challenging long-lived notions about what is fine art and what is commercial.

Réalités Nouvelles Interview

June 12, 2012

Here is a June 12th post on the blog of the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles in which I discuss my work with Erik Levesque who is a member of the RN Comité and the Administrateur du blog des Réalités Nouvelles.

Pouvez-vous décrire brièvement votre travail ?
Can you briefly describe what you do ?

DH: What I do and what I am—in the sense of how I think of myself and my place in the world—might appear to be very different. At the end of the day, I think of myself as a painter, though I haven’t picked up a brush in ten years. What I do is use cameras and digital technology to make images, but I’m not a photographer. The history of that medium has significance that is not central to what I do.
